Volume
To Grid Shell
The development of load paths in space is a relevant common work process in the interaction of architecture and engineering.

In our common conceptions, we search for strategies of load-bearing structures merging the disciplines involved.
In the development of optimized load paths in space, this study „from volume to grid shells“ has been carried out. Taking off with a volume and given loading and support conditions, the paths of the loading from volume to surface and to a final grid shell have been derived.
This derivation does not result from a deliberate drawing, but from the constant following of the approaches of topology optimization.
